Finance Director – PE-Backed Technology Business

The Consultancy Group is partnering with a Private Equity-backed technology business to appoint a high-calibre Finance Director to support the next phase of growth and value creation. Based in London, this is a critical leadership role within a scaling small-cap portfolio company, offering broad exposure across strategic finance, commercial decision support, operational improvement, and investor engagement.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Private Equity sponsors to help drive performance, scalability, and ultimately support the business through to a successful exit. The Finance Director will take full ownership of the finance function, leading both technical and commercial finance activities whilst acting as the key financial contact for the Private Equity investors and lending partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing finance function capable of supporting rapid growth

• Act as the primary finance contact for the Private Equity fund and maintain strong stakeholder relationships

• Deliver accurate and insightful monthly management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

• Drive commercial decision-making through high-quality financial analysis and performance insight

• Manage cashflow, liquidity, and working capital optimisation across the business

• Build and maintain strong banking and lender relationships, including supporting refinancing and debt management activities

• Enhance financial controls, governance, and reporting processes

• Streamline systems, automation, and finance processes to improve scalability and operational efficiency

• Leverage AI-enabled finance tools and modern technologies to improve reporting, forecasting, and workflow efficiency

• Develop data-led dashboards and analytics capabilities to support senior leadership decision-making

• Support strategic initiatives including M&A activity, integration projects, and value creation programmes

• Play a key role in exit preparation and investor reporting

Candidate Profile

• ACA qualified (or equivalent)

• Proven Finance Director or senior finance leadership experience within a PE-backed business

• Experience supporting a business through scale-up, transformation, and exit preparation

• Strong technical accounting and financial control expertise

• Commercially focused mindset with the ability to influence operational and strategic decision-making

• Demonstrable experience improving profitability, driving efficiencies, and supporting value creation initiatives

• Strong cashflow, treasury, and working capital management expertise

• Experience managing banking and debt provider relationships

• Proven ability to improve finance systems, processes, and operational infrastructure

• Strong understanding of finance technology, automation, and AI-enabled finance tools

• Advanced data and analytics capability, including dashboarding and commercial insight generation

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience operating at Board and investor level

• Experience within the technology, SaaS, or high-growth sectors would be advantageous
