Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly important role that will lead in various aspects of financial operations, including statutory financial reporting, consolidation, audit, treasury, and foreign currency management. Additionally, this role will provide support to the Head of Finance and Executive in terms of controls and forecasting. The position offers a significant opportunity for an individual to make a tangible impact on the financial performance of our successful and entrepreneurial business.
Given the size of our Finance team, you will have the chance to engage in all facets of Finance, as well as participate in ad hoc analyses. This commercially focused role will involve collaborating with both Finance and non-Finance teams, as well as senior managers. We are seeking someone with an entrepreneurial instinct, possessing attention to detail and an analytical mindset that can provide insights on how we can deliver value for money while meeting various statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate group accounts
- Take ownership of the balance sheet across the group to ensure statutory compliance
- Manage the statutory audit process and maintain a strong relationship with external auditors
- Forecast foreign currency needs and provide advice on purchasing strategy
- Drive improvement projects within the finance department and assist non-finance teams in identifying areas for cost improvements
- Oversee periodic payment runs and maintain an overview of cash levels
- Enhance the stock and expenditure control environment throughout the commercial business
- Develop stock control systems at our new bonded warehouse site
- Design and implement robust processes to mitigate financial risks
- Conduct ad hoc analyses as required by the Head of Finance and Executive
- Opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of Finance
- Act as a deputy for the Financial Controller when necessary
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), preferably recently qualified
- Experience in implementing new processes and enhancing control environments
- Proficiency in statutory reporting, audit, and compliance
- Experience working in a multi-currency working environment
- Familiarity with stock management is desirable
- Experience in FMCG/Retail/Wholesale industries or working with clients in these sectors (desirable for candidates from practice)
- Effective communication and influencing skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong IT skills, particularly in advanced Excel and technical financial tools
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage upwards effectively
